Frequently Asked Question

What is a Buyer TIN?
Last Updated 2 years ago

A Buyer TIN is the official identification of the buyer, as registered in the official business registry of each country. The use of Buyer TIN is always prescribed by the local tax legislation. When it is mandatory, it has to be printed on the fiscal invoice. It uniquely identifies the buyer of the products and services that are listed on the invoice.

When issuing a B2B fiscal invoice for exported goods or services (i.e. when goods or services are sold to a buyer from a foreign country), the cashier must enter a Buyer TIN which starts with an official country code prefix.

Country code prefix is an ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 (2 letters) country code. It identifies the buyer's country of origin.

ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes are two-letter country codes defined in ISO 3166-1, part of the ISO 3166 standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
